The Shopify Story

We created a nearly 10-minute documentary to tell the story of Shopify: what it is, how it works, and how it got here. Since its launch in summer 2023, the film has lived above the fold on Shopify.com.

This was a deeply collaborative effort between creative leads, editors, producers, and motion designers. I served as Motion Design Lead, contributing to the creative development, art direction, and animation throughout the piece.

Analog Scanning Process

One of my favorite parts of this project was stepping away from the screen to create assets by hand. I drew, scribbled, printed, dragged, and distorted.

That hands-on process gave the piece its distinct texture and helped ground the animation in the DIY spirit we were after.
